BlackSingles Dating Site Review

BlackSingles is an online singles site specifically designed with black singles in mind. This site offers free basic service and, unlike some singles sites, does not attempt to make you upgrade your membership right off the bat.

BlackSingles’s services include mail, chat, message boards, instant messaging, and cards.  It also includes a large selection of smileys-- a great way to let your fellow community members know that you’re interested. Members can also vote on other members based on their pictures, if included, or on a brief comment bar included for each profile. This fun feature is a great way to get to know other members and can give you lots of fun things to talk about. The site does not let you know how many active members it currently has, but it does tell you how many members are logged in at any given time.  Unpaid members are also able to view other members’ profiles-- at BlackSingles, users can view profiles without even creating a basic membership. 

Not all of the services of this website are free, however.  The site offers a lot of “hooks” to bait potential members-- it allows unpaid users to send smileys and cards for free. Members can also instant message one another for free-- but only if one of the members involved has an upgraded (paid) membership.  Basic (unpaid) members cannot initiate these conversations.  Membership fees are as follows: a six-month membership starts at $79.99, a three-month membership at $49.99, and a one-month membership at $24.99.  Each membership comes with a free one-year subscription to the magazine of the member’s choice. The site makes it convenient to join by accepting credit cards, online checks, paper checks, and paypal.

On a scale of 1-5, my rating for this site is a 5. If you are a black single looking for other black singles, this is a terrific site.  It is fun, easy to use, and makes it easy to interact with other members. BlackSingles’s free features give you a chance to explore the site before committing to a full membership, and have fun while doing it.
